In 1937 we took a decision that would mark our history: making the first vermut Riojan and, years after, becoming pioneersin breedingit in barrica. That one bet, kept generation after generation, keeps giving fruit. Today, Wine Enthusiast recognises with excellent scores all our range Vermut Lacuesta, confirming that whatthat began as a challenge did almost 90 years still being a motive of pride.

Throughout this time we have developed a range that combines tradition and character: from the aromatic freshness of the Blanco, the balanced intensity of the Rojo and the marked personality of the Extra Seco, to the complexity and elegance of the Reserva. Each reference shares the same base – our best wines, a careful formula and an ageing process that provides unique nuances – but offers a different experience for each occasion and palate.

Almost nine decades later, this commitment is still fully valid and now receives a new international backing, with special prominence for our Vermut Reserva, which has achieved the highest score. It was launched in 2005 with the idea of making it as if it were a great wine. Thus was born the first Vermut Reserva on the market, aged for seven months in oak to provide a deep colour, unmistakable toasted notes and an aromatic complexity hitherto unknown in this type of drink.

The prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine has awarded the following scores to our complete range:

  • Vermouth Lacuesta Reserva – 100 puntos
  • Vermouth Lacuesta Blanco – 95 puntos
  • Vermouth Lacuesta Rojo – 94 puntos
  • Vermouth Lacuesta Extra Seco – 93 puntos

This recognition is the result of maintaining an unalterable philosophy: to make our vermouths with the best wines, a careful formula and an ageing process that provides character, complexity and elegance. A way of understanding vermouth that was born as a risky decision and that today forms part of our identity and the living history of Martínez Lacuesta.
