Our winemaker, Álvaro Martínez del Castillo, has entered the prestigious Top 100 Master Winemakers 2026 list, compiled by The Drinks Business magazine.

The list, compiled by The Drinks Business magazine, is based on the exceptional quality of wines in international competitions. In this case, the recognition comes with the award given by the organization to the Hinia Blanco Reserva 2021, which was chosen as the Best Rioja of 2025 and Grand Master, after a blind tasting held in London on May 19th. Furthermore, Colección Familia Gran Reserva 2012 Tinto received a Gold Medal, solidifying its position as one of the winery’s oenological gems.

Fourth Generation of the Winery
For Martínez del Castillo, fourth generation of the winery and winemaking director since 2004, this award represents “a reinforcement of a philosophy undertaken 130 years ago based on the production of classic Rioja fine wines, true to their origin, Haro.”

Álvaro is the perfect reflection of Martínez Lacuesta, its history and commitment: “A very wise person once reminded me that, while I could make any wine I wanted, I had to make sure it was drunk and enjoyed; that person was my father,” he recounts in the magazine.

The presentation of these awards took place at the WineParis 2026 global wine fair last Monday, February 9th, where we were able to enjoy, learn, and celebrate.
