Our Wines in 2024: Opinions that Make a Difference
We gather the most outstanding scores of our wines during the year 2024, from the specialised critics.

Our “Back to the Future” reflects how we face the future without forgetting our roots. Although we could demonstrate this in many ways, the opinions of the specialised critics are usually the clearest way to reach the consumer. Here is a summary of the scores our wines have received this year.
TIM ATKIN
Excellent scores by Tim Atkin in his Rioja 2024 Special Report
Of our Colección Familia he highlighted that it was “a modernised classic, with a charming approach and balance”, while of the newcomer Hinia Blanco he did not hesitate to say that “it deserves to take its place among Rioja’s most exciting whites”.
To Hinia Tinto he dedicated the following words: ” Unashamedly traditional in style, this cuvée of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo is savoury and floral.”
MICHAEL PINKUS
Michael Pinkus conducted one of his particular Reviews with Rogers & Company, an importer and distributor of premium wines in Ontario (Canada).
Among the wines from Champagne and Napa Valley , two of our wines made a place for themselves:
Martínez Lacuesta Cuvée 2019: 3,5 stars Plus and Campeador Reserva: 4,5 stars Plus
Great satisfaction on our part in a tasting with great competitors in the premium market, among them, Marqués de Murrieta.
EXCELLENCE VERMOUTH AWARDS
Our Vermut Reserva was awarded a Gran Oro at the Excellence Vermouth Awards.
The award was yet another recognition for our vermouth, which as you know is not only the first vermouth from La Rioja since 1937, but our centenary house was the first to age it in barrels.
The international jury was made up of: Abraham Rivera, Beatriz Garaizábal, Pilar de Haya, José Valdearcos, Carmen Garrobo, Séga Mbengue Diop, Luis Aguilar Pryde, Gregorio Ras, Luis Alberto González and Marina García, with Jesús Flores as technical director.
DECANTER
Excellent score for our Martínez Lacuesta Colección Familia 2011, one of our most satisfying wines since its creation.
The prestigious publication highlights its pleasant nose, with aromas of coconut, cedar, ripe redcurrants, black cherry and hints of nutmeg. It is also considered a very silky and pleasant wine to drink.
Colección Familia is a very limited edition made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo , which are perfectly integrated after more than three years of more than three years of ageing in barrels.
GUÍA PEÑÍN
The prestigious Peñín Guide, the reference guide for Spanish wines , awarded excellent scores to the wines of Bodegas excellent scores to the wines of Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta, among which the 95 points for Martínez Lacuesta Colección Familia 2012 stand out, which allowed us to enjoy from the Podium, the XXIII Salón de los Mejores Vinos de España. Hinia Reserva and Hinia Blanco also scored 94 points.
We are also very proud of the good scores (93 points) for Campeador Viura and Campeador Garnacha and especially pleased that the scores recognise both classic wines from our winery and new wines, especially the white wines, highlighting the great boom we are experiencing in this range of wines.
ABC WINE GUIDE 2025
94 points was deserved by our Colección Familia, of which the guide highlighted: “We like this 1895 bodega more and more. Colección Familia combines Tempranillos, Gracianos and Mazuelos with more than 40 years in Haro, aged three years in barrels. It smells of blackberry, rockrose, pepper, leather goods and incense, on an elegant palate with a fine, chalky texture. History and vivacity in harmony”.

What words he dedicated to our Hinia Blanco. Words to be engraved on fire: It’s scary to think that it’s his first vintage. He also commented that:“Martínez Lacuesta continues to surprise us. Made with old Viura grapes, Hinia takes its name from the fossils in its clay-limestone soil. It matured in barrel but explodes, very perfumed, with white currant, custard apple, flowers and gunpowder. It’s rich, fresh, long, toasty and textural. It’s scary to think that this is its first vintage”.
GUÍA VINOS GOURMETS 2025

INSTITUTIONAL WINE
And finally, the Control Board has selected in a blind tasting our Tempranillo Blanco as the institutional wine of the Denomination of Origin Calificada Rioja for 2024 in the category of Young White Wines.
